Well here it is, my first diary entry. And what an entry it is!!!
Got a call from Al just as I was leaving W'ton, saying it was windy and he
would be sailing on the estuary. So off I went.
Even though I ending up going the wrong way and heading towards Aberystwyth
I became more worried about the lack of wind and thought I would be really
pi**ed off if I got there and there was no wind, o well i had my big sails
and was going to get on the water regardless.
Any ho, pulled onto the beach car park about 11am to be greeted by near
hurricane conditions, compared to what I am used to.
I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW WINDY IT WAS!!!!!, considering a few miles inland
there was bugger all!
Met everyone, everyone seems really cool, everyone was almost rigged I was
playing catch up. With my 5.2 as my smallest sail I was in no rush as i
was hoping secretly for a small drop in the speed of the wind.
Finnally got on the water and considering that it was my first real attempt
in such choppy conditions i felt i did ok. To be truthful i only wish my
ability had matched by enthusiasm and sheer excitement. Felt a bit to hot
at times, must have been working to hard waterstarting!
Cant wait to be back over there, Al, you are are such a jammy git for being
able to sail there whenever you want (wind permitting of course).
Unfortunaly there was a minor accident (my money was on myself to break kit
or appendages), Dazza hope the ankle gets better quickly, and of course the
alcohol is only for medicinal purposes (wink, wink).
Cant wait till the next time, hope its soon!
